Marmaris villa guide
Marmaris is a lively resort town in southern Muğla, set on a sheltered bay where pine forests run down to the sea; with pool villas overlooking the bay, a marina and the quiet coves of the nearby Bozburun peninsula, it suits both families and lovers of boat trips.
The nearest airport is Dalaman (DLM), about 95 km or roughly 1.5 hours by car. The town centre has Marmaris Castle, the bazaar and a long seafront promenade, while İçmeler and Turunç offer quieter beaches. On the Bozburun peninsula to the south, fishing villages such as Selimiye, Söğüt and Bozburun are known for their clear coves and waterside restaurants. Marmaris is also an important starting point for gulet and Blue Cruise trips.
The swimming season runs from May to late October. Because the bay is sheltered from the wind, the sea is usually calm; July and August are hot. Villas are concentrated on the hillsides overlooking the bay, around İçmeler and in the villages of the Bozburun peninsula.
When choosing a villa in Marmaris, consider whether you want to be close to the buzz of town or to a quiet cove: villas in the centre and İçmeler are close to everything, while the Selimiye and Bozburun side is calmer but further away. For a privacy-focused holiday, look for the "secluded pool" tag, and check the Ministry of Culture and Tourism permit number on every listing.
