Islamlar villa guide
Islamlar is a mountain village on the slopes just above Kalkan, about 400 metres above sea level; with its cool evenings, villas set in large gardens and views stretching down to Kalkan Bay, it is a good fit for families and groups who want a peaceful holiday surrounded by nature.
The village is about 10 minutes' drive from the centre of Kalkan; the nearest airport is Dalaman (DLM), roughly 1 hour 45 minutes away. Thanks to the spring water flowing down from the mountains, Islamlar is known for its trout farms and shaded trout restaurants. Because of the altitude, summer evenings are noticeably cooler than on the coast, which means a comfortable night's sleep, especially in July and August.
For the sea, it is a short drive down to the beaches and beach clubs of Kalkan, to Kaputaş or to Patara Beach. The Bezirgan plateau above the village, sections of the Lycian Way and the ancient city of Xanthos are also close by. Villas here are typically stone and timber buildings on generous plots among olive and fruit trees, most with open views towards the bay.
A car is essential when renting a villa in Islamlar: public transport is limited and the roads are winding. Large groups will find it easier to find multi-bedroom villas with big gardens here. If you are travelling with a pet, use the "pet-friendly" filter and check the permit number on the listing page.
