Bodrum villa guide
Bodrum is a peninsula on Muğla's Aegean coast made up of many villages, each bay with its own character; with white cubic houses, modern luxury villas, sunset views and lively nightlife, it is one of Türkiye's leading villa destinations for groups of friends and comfort-seeking families alike.
The nearest airport is Milas-Bodrum (BJV), about 35 km or roughly 40 minutes from Bodrum town, and around 1 hour from western villages such as Yalıkavak and Gümüşlük. Bodrum Castle with its Museum of Underwater Archaeology, the ancient theatre and the remains of the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus are in town. Yalıkavak is known for its marina and shopping, Gümüşlük for its sunsets and fish restaurants, and Bitez and Ortakent for their family-friendly beaches.
The swimming season runs from late May to mid-October; July and August are both the hottest and the busiest months. On the north coast, Türkbükü and Gündoğan stand out for their calm bays, while Bitez and Ortakent in the south are known for their long beaches.
When choosing a villa in Bodrum, pick the village first, as driving times between villages on the peninsula can add up. If you want to be close to the nightlife, look at the town centre and Torba; for peace and quiet, look around Gümüşlük or Bitez. Prices rise sharply at the peak of summer, so June and September can offer better value. Check the Ministry of Culture and Tourism permit number on every listing.
