Alaçatı & Çeşme villa guide
Alaçatı is an Aegean town in the Çeşme district of İzmir, known for its stone houses, windmills and boutique restaurants; with stone design villas with pools and its windsurfing bay, it suits couples, groups of friends and families looking for a stylish summer holiday.
The nearest airport is İzmir Adnan Menderes (ADB), about 80 km or roughly 1 hour via the motorway. Thanks to the steady northerly winds that blow throughout the summer, Alaçatı Bay is an internationally known windsurfing centre. For swimming, popular choices are the shallow sandy beach at Ilıca, the Altınkum coves and Pırlanta Beach. Çeşme Castle, the marina and the ferries to the island of Chios are in the centre of Çeşme.
The sea in the Aegean is cooler than on the Mediterranean coast, and the swimming season usually runs from mid-June to mid-September. July and August are Alaçatı's busiest months, when prices and minimum stays may increase. In spring and autumn the town is quieter, a pleasant time to stroll the stone lanes and discover Aegean cuisine.
When choosing a villa in Alaçatı, take into account walking distance to the town centre and the wind: stone villas in the centre are close to the evening buzz, while the surf bay side is ideal for wind sports. On windy evenings, a villa with a sheltered garden or pergola adds comfort. Check the Ministry of Culture and Tourism permit number on every listing.
