Kemer villa guide
Kemer is a resort area west of Antalya, on a narrow strip of coast where the Taurus Mountains drop down to the sea; with coves framed by pine forest, crystal-clear water and pool villas in the foothills, it suits families and couples who want mountains and sea in one holiday.
Antalya Airport (AYT) is about 55 km from Kemer, roughly 50 minutes by car. Kemer town has a marina and pebble beaches, and Beldibi, Göynük, Kiriş, Çamyuva and Tekirova line the coast nearby. The ancient city of Phaselis, Göynük Canyon, Olympos, Çıralı, the Chimaera flames (Yanartaş) and the cable car up Mount Tahtalı are the main sights in the area.
The beaches are mostly pebbly and the sea gets deep quickly; the water is exceptionally clear. The season runs from April to late October, and thanks to the mountain air, evenings can be a little cooler than in Antalya city. Villas are usually detached houses with gardens on the slopes a few kilometres from the coast.
When choosing a villa in Kemer, check the distance to the beach and how steep the access road is; villas in the foothills are quieter and cooler but require a car. For a privacy-focused holiday, look for the "secluded pool" tag. If you are travelling with young children, choose villas with a children's pool and pool fence, and check the Ministry of Culture and Tourism permit number on every listing.
